Through my study of the family photo album, I have gained an appreciation for the images that are chosen and how each image gets placed within the album. These relics of my family and of my past tell stories that I do not remember. In looking at these images many years later in life and with a strong understanding of how to read a photograph. I start to relate to these images in a different way.

By hand selecting certain images I am exploring how I feel about my relationship with my parents and siblings. Through the use of connecting and contrasting items, I am seeking to reveal references to my identity and my memories. By carefully destroying copies of each image I am able to change how we might re-read each image from its intended purpose. For me, It is all so delicate but we still are able to hang on by things that bind us while still keeping us at a distance.
